VC Elite Starts Season With Multiple Championships

VC Elite traveled to Ventura College to play in their first tournament of the season.  The 8th Graders got the season started right by winning the championship with impressive wins over SCV Playmakers, American Eagles and Ventura Fusion.  The championship game was a nail biter against American Eagles but the girls pulled it out with some clutch steals that lead to transition layups and some timely 3-point shots. It seems like this group has started off right where they left it at the end of spring.
The 6th Graders with the help of the 5th Graders won the championship as well.  They continued their winning ways with victories over the hosts Conejo Quakes, West Coast Dream and Oxnard Force. This group has only gotten better during their short time off and will be a force to reckon with this season in the 6th grade division. What a great experience for the 5th graders in their first tournament as VC Elite.
The 7th Graders also played in their first tournament as a team this weekend.  They started off strong keeping most of their games close in the first half.  But with only five players it was difficult keeping up with some of the teams that had more depth. I am very proud of the way this team competed and I was impressed with how hard they played all the way to the end of each game. This hard work will pay off soon....it always does.
