5th Graders take Second Place at Aloha

The club traveled to Garden Grove last weekend to play in the annual SGV Aloha tournament.  We play in this tournament every year because it showcases some of the best girls basketball teams in Southern California and challenges us to be our best.  Both teams definitely rose to the occasion and had maybe one of the best showings the club has ever had at this tournament finishing with six wins and only two losses combined.

2nd Place SGV Aloha Tournament
Our 5th grade team demonstrated that they are ready to compete with the best and made it all the way to the championship game.  They posted victories over SGV, Torrance North Stars and Aikanes on their way to the finals.  The team used its quickness, great ball handling skills and defensive pressure to wear down their opponents.  In the championship game they played a very good OC Rhythm team and had to settle for second place.  It was an awesome tournament for this group in their first major tournament.  Keep up the hard work girls!!

The 7th/8th grade team played four games that were all decided by four points or less.  They posted victories over OC Rhythm, Solana Beach and rivals Pasadena Vikings.  A tough loss in the final minute against Cal Storm unfortunately kept this team out of the championship game.  This is a very deep and talented team that seems to play better under pressure.  As team chemistry continues to build hopefully they can win some of these by a greater margin.  I know their coach would appreciate that.

I was so proud of all our players this weekend and how they represented the club, not just by their level of play but also by the way they carried themselves on and off the court.  Parents too!  Thank you for all your support.  We can feel your positive energy all the way on the bench.

I am excited about getting back to work at practice this week.

Go Elite!!
